WHO ARE WE?

JACK GOMME : FROM 1985 TO NOW

MADE IN FRANCE SINCE 1985 BY PAUL DROULERS AND SOPHIE RENIER

1985

Between Dieter Rams' design and Morrissey's rhythms, Japanese minimalism and warm Minorcan colors, Paul Droulers and Sophie Rénier take the challenge, in 1985, to create simple, practical, light and accessible bags and accessories.

1986

In 1986, the FESTIVAL INTERNATIONAL DES ARTS DE LA MODE DE HYÈRES (HYÈRES INTERNATIONAL FASHION ARTS FESTIVAL) dedicated their joyful hybrid dresses and bags.

TODAY

Paul seems to have lived a thousand lives; an exceptional sailor who crossed the Atlantic solo, he designs prototypes in his workshop in the Buttes Chaumont in Paris. He likes light, solid, pragmatic materials that remind him of the robustness of his sailboat. Sophie is an aesthete, passionate about minimalist architecture, contemporary dance, typography, colors and their harmonies. Both of them care more than anything about a product anchored in urban reality, honest and beautifully crafted.

" The useful can be beautiful and the beautiful accessible " - Sir Terence Conran

JACK WHO ? GOMME, JACK GOMME

Playful and offbeat, the name JACK GOMME also makes sense because our first collections used Bulgomme, an atypical material reminiscent of Arte Povera.

AN ULTRA-LOCAL BRAND

100% of the products are developed in Paris, 97% of the bags are made in France. The materials are sourced with the greatest care while favoring eco-responsible certifications.

JACK GOMME's mission is to bring to the urban everyday life of the largest number of people light bags and accessories, with simple designs, cheerful colors and solid materials. They are accessible to all, well thought out, pragmatic and fairly priced.

HUMOR, ORIGINALITY AND AVANT-GARDISM

The JACK GOMME collections always have an original surprise in store, often funny and ahead of its time, thanks to the personality of their creators and the artistic world in which they evolve.

MANIFESTO

MINIMALISM

Jack Gomme bags are inspired by the simple and efficient lines of urban architecture.

LIGHTNESS

Their lightness is one of their essential and unavoidable qualities. The bags are solid, impeccably made and finished.

URBAN PRAGMATISM

Designed for urban adventure, Jack Gomme bags are inspired by the evolving habits and attitudes of people moving around town. Their pragmatism allows them to adapt to escapades and travel.

HONESTY - FAIR PRICE

Since 1985, Jack Gomme's creations have had to be accessible to the greatest number of people. Paul and Sophie make it a point of honor to ensure that their bags are fairly and transparently priced, while respecting ethical manufacturing rules.

RESPONSIBILITY

The brand's flagship line, LIGHT, has gone 100% vegan as of Winter 2021. The leathers are selected with the greatest care, the tanning is vegetable, the models are all created in Paris and almost all produced in France. The future Escape - Upcycled Marine Plastic line will be made of recycled nylon from the sea bed.

ETHICAL SUPPLY CHAIN

Development of prototypes in the Parisian workshop, production in France, permanent sourcing of environmentally friendly materials and packaging, priority given to certifications such as OEKO-TEX® for example, raising the awareness of the teams to environmental issues, and making logistics partners responsible are all subjects that Paul & Sophie is committed to. Lovers of the oceans and nature, each step is ethically thought out and each impact is analyzed so that the carbon footprint is as small as possible.

COMMITMENTS

Prométhée Humanitaire is an association that helps street children in Senegal, Haiti and Madagascar in order to protect them and offer them the chance to grow up in a stable, healthy and loving environment. The association lives thanks to donations of unsold items from designers from all over the world (clothes, fashion accessories, tableware, art and decoration objects). These pieces are sold by the association and help finance their multiple actions.

The first AIDES Fashion Sale was organized in the early 90's with the objective of raising funds to open a place of welcome and healing in Paris. This sale takes place twice a year, in June and December, and offers new items, mostly from recent or current collections. All profits go to AIDES, to finance its prevention, screening and awareness-raising activities.

THE COLLECTIONS: 3 ESSENTIAL LINES

LIGHT ORIGINAL

The LIGHT Line was created from a Japanese coated fabric, with the particularity of being both resistant, waterproof and ultra light. Moreover, it requires very little water in its manufacture. The success of this line has lasted for 10 years and crosses fashions and generations. Designed for everyday use and travel, each volume takes shape with its container, ensuring absolute freedom. To add a chapter to our values, the light becomes vegan.

ESCAPE

Unisex and pragmatic line, it has been developed both to move in an urban world and to escape outside the city walls. Backpacks, weekenders and fanny packs make it an efficient proposal for busy days and light trips. From the Spring Summer 2022 collection, the ESCAPE line is also available in SEAQUAL® YARN. SEAQUAL INITIATIVE is a collaborative community fighting against plastic pollution. SEAQUAL® YARN has OEKO-TEX® Class 100 and GRS certifications.

ATELIER

The ATELIER Line includes leather goods in different leathers, as well as a summer offer in linen and winter in wool. At JACK GOMME, leather is worked in all its forms with the primary desire not to alter this noble material thanks to natural and non-abrasive products. For this, the leather is selected in the best regions of the world. The leather is tanned in France with natural vegetable agents before fixing the color with a varnish finish obtained without solvents.
